Greetings at the sermon from The Chapter!
The paternal line of Jesus is divine, of the Father, and his maternal line is priestly, of Mary the Blessed Virgin.
John the Baptist is also of the priestly line.
John the Baptist is also of the priestly line.
Origins of Jesus Son of Man
The Son of God was conceived in the Holy Spirit within the womb of the Blessed Virgin.
He was born unto the House of King David, who is of the tribe of Judah, for Joseph, Mary's husband, is from David's line.
Jesus, therefore, was not born of David as a descendant, but into his tribe and family through divine origin.
As for the Virgin Mary, there is no reference in the New Testament that she descends from the tribe of Judah. The only indication as to her family origins is that she is a relative of Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist.
The parents of John the Baptist are Zechariah and Elizabeth, and both are of the priestly tribe of Levi. Neither of them are Jews (of the tribe of Judah).
So John the Baptist is not a Jew (of Judah), but a Levite (of Levi).
Priesthood Through the Virgin Mary
It is a safe assumption to state that the Virgin Mary also belongs to the tribe of Levi, and that Jesus descends from the priestly tribe of the Levites.
It is through being born in the Spirit into the house of David of the tribe of Judah that Jesus is King, and through being born of the Virgin Mary that Jesus is High Priest, for only the Levites could be priests.
So Jesus, as Son of Man, does not descend from the Jews, but from the Levites. Thus he is Messiah High Priest through his Mother Mary.
The Priesthood of Jesus is also confirmed by way of Melchizedek, a priest of God Most High who brought bread and wine and blessed Abram and blessed God Most High (the Father).
Melchizedek was king of Salem, and at the same time he was the high priest of God the Father. He is a prophetic revelation of Jesus, God's Son, who is both Messiah King and Messiah High Priest.
Jesus High Priest of the English Church
Under English Law, as Jesus is High Priest - and therefore head and supreme governor - of the English Church, he is also entitled to be King of England.
The English Church was founded in Kent and in Northumbria around 1,000 years before Henry VIII.
